Spiritual Care Research Program Manager
The ideal candidate will have experience in researching the impact or efficacy of spirituality, spiritual care interventions, and health outcomes. If the selected candidate does not have a terminal degree, they will be provided the opportunity to work toward completion of a PhD while fulfilling the duties of this role. Post-doctoral fellows are encouraged to apply for this role and participate in NIH grant-funded studies also. Priority will be given to board-certified chaplains with at least 3 years chaplaincy experience who have also completed a Masters Degree in Public Health (MPH) focused on epidemiology or biostatistics.
The Spiritual Care Research Program Manager will function as a chaplain researcher as part of the Houston Methodist Spiritual Care and Education Department. This position will engage in research projects with the Waterman Patient Engagement Research Lab at Houston Methodist Research, including projects currently underway in the Waterman Patient Engagement Research Lab and projects designed by the selected candidate. This role will have responsibility for envisioning, planning, designing, researching, and publishing research related to spiritual care with the support of both the Spiritual Care and Education Department and Waterman Patient Engagement Research Lab. This role includes the opportunity for mentoring and being mentored as desired.
This position is a founding role for the future development of interested chaplains and students to engage in spiritual care research. This role will assist interested chaplains in learning how to design, conduct, and publish research.
