UM Studies Practical Theology Position - Faculty
Saint Paul School of Theology is reimagining theological education for the twenty-first century, focused on integration of student learning and formation of the whole person for ministry. We are thinking beyond traditional disciplinary categories and developing a faculty whose work is interdisciplinary, innovative, and integrative in nature. We are strategically positioned to invest in this vision.
 
Saint Paul School of Theology invites applications for one or more full-time faculty appointments in United Methodist Studies and Practical Theology with competencies in one or more of the following disciplines: Pastoral Care, Leadership, Spirituality, Evangelism, Mission, Religious Education, and Ethics and Society. At least one hire will include competencies in United Methodist Studies. Other possible areas of expertise include conflict management, trauma-informed pedagogy, social justice advocacy, emotional intelligence, intercultural development, and technology for ministry. The position is rank open, tenure track or tenured. Because Saint Paul School of Theology is committed to interdisciplinary and integrative work, we especially invite candidates who embody diverse perspectives, methods, and approaches to their field.
 
Candidates for the position must have a Ph.D. or equivalent academic degree in a relevant field. The cover letter should indicate scholarly and teaching competence in areas relevant to theological education. Successful applicants should be equipped to teach on-campus, hybrid, and online courses in the MDIV, MACM, MTS, and DMIN programs. Candidates should be willing to locate at Saint Paul’s campus in Oklahoma City or Leawood, Kansas, depending on the seminary’s needs. The appointment begins on July 1, 2026.
