Executive Director of Pastoral Care

Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian is seeking an Executive Director of Pastoral Care that is ACPE Certified to lead our Clinical Pastoral Education program in Newport Beach, California. Please consider this opportunity to integrate the spiritual and educational formation of CPE students with a values & mission-based organization.

 

Essential Functions:

The Executive Director is responsible for conducting programs of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) accredited under the standards of ACPE, Inc. This includes developing curriculum, supervising the clinical work of students, and evaluating students' pastoral development, and professional reparation for ministry in a healthcare setting, as well as evaluating the effectiveness of the learning process. The Executive Director will also maintain the ACPE accreditation for the program and provide overall leadership for spiritual care practice in collaboration with the Vice President of Patient Care Services & Chief Nursing Officer along with the Association of Presbyterian Members (APM).

Requirements

Job Requirements:

  • Master of Divinity Degree (or equivalent) from an accredited (ATS) Seminar.
  • Certification and current membership with the Association of Clinical Pastoral Education.
  • 5 or more years of Chaplaincy leadership experience in a healthcare setting.
  • Completion of at least 4 units of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) from an accredited center under the Association for Clinical Pastoral Education (ACPE).
  • Experience with all faiths and religions with a distinct Christian commitment and understanding of our Presbyterian tradition.
  • Ordination/endorsement for ministry in good standing within one's ecclesial body.
  • Eligible to become a certified ACPE Supervisor within 2 years of hire.
